John P. Scanlon

John P. Scanlon focuses his practice on representing people injured by defective products and workers injured while at their place of employment.
He graduated with departmental honors from Illinois Benedictine College and attended the College of Law at DePaul University where he served on the DePaul Law Review staff. He has been admitted to the Trial Bar of the United States District Court.
He is a member of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association (ITLA) and the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, now the American Association for Justice (ATLA/AAJ). John is currently the Co-Chair of the Products Liability Committee of the Illinois Trial Lawyers and is the past chair of the Illinois State Bar Association's Tort Law Committee.
John recently authored an article in Trial Magazine on "Truck Underride" which is published by the ATLA/AAJ. He has also authored chapters for the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association on the subjects of pre-trial mediation and hearing loss caused by industrial noise. John has spoken for the Illinois State Bar Association on the topic of construction site accidents and for the Illinois Institute for Continuing Legal Education on Products Liability topics.& John has authored several articles published by the Illinois State Bar Association in The Tort Trends newsletter.
He has obtained many awards and verdicts on behalf of injured workers, including a record $24,000,000 verdict for a young man who suffered paralysis as a result of a defective product. He has also successfully pursued appeals in the Illinois Appellate Court.
